JOB DESCRIPTION
TABLETING DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR- 2nd/3rd Shift
JOB FUNCTION:
Supervision of Tableting Department operation and staff including technicians, machine operators and compounders. Hands-on manufacturing responsibilities of triturated powders, triturate tablets, and wet preparation of intermediate powders. Responsible for ensuring full compliance with cGMPs as related to documentation, sanitation and protection of product from contamination and adulteration. Reports to Director of Manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Responsible for unloading, set up and clean up of Sherman Triturators. Responsible for protection and proper handling equipment. Hands on production work related to mixing and tableting operations as required.
2. Responsible for creation and completion of daily 3rd shift work schedule directing all 3rd shift tableting staff. Prepare notes for incoming 1st shift supervisor.
3. Monitoring and managing rotation of batches in production areas and drying rooms to maintain product segregation and mitigate absorption of smells of one batch into another.
4. Help with loading and unloading of tablet drying rooms and inspection of tablets for dryness. Stage dried tablet racks for dedusting station.
5. Responsible for keeping tableting facilities clean and orderly. This includes floors, tables, scales, walls,
frames, doors, windows and mixer bases.
6. Responsible for proper documentation, including proper entries in logbooks, maintenance logs, production work orders, and other reports required by plant management.
7. Supervision of 3rd shift tableting department personnel, including packaging operators who may be assigned to operate triturate tablet machines during third shift hours.
8. Daily communication and coordination with Tableting Supervisors on 1st and 2nd shifts, as well as other Department Supervisors as required.
9. Adequate monitoring of equipment to ensure that it is in good working order. Includes stopping machines that are in poor working condition or that are making sub-standard product and reporting them to F&E and Quality Assurance.
10. Coordinate machine repairs with 3rd shift Maintenance mechanic. Report machine status to the Director of Manufacturing.
11. Responsible for sanitizing DI water hoses weekly.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
.
1. Coordinate the training of 3rd shift associates on Good Manufacturing Practices. Monitor compliance with GMP and good documentation practices including proper completion of Production Work Orders and other Documents.
2. Train 3rd shift associates on departmental SOPs and ensure compliance and adherence to the SOPs provisions.
3. Ability to properly lift 50 lbs. on a daily basis.
4. Consultation with production personnel and Engineering & Facilities mechanics regarding equipment issues, preventative maintenance and repair work.
5. Proper retrieval and storage of powder intermediates.
6. Responsible for Building Security on the 3rd shift.
7. Responsible for the safety of the associates during the 3rd shift hours. This will include immediate reporting of any accidents to the plant management team.
8. Follows established emergency procedures as outlined by the company during
Power outages, natural disasters etc.
9. Other duties as assigned by Plant Management including assignments in other
Manufacturing departments as needed.
10. Help with cycle counts as directed by management.
11. Additional duties as needed and/or as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Five years experience in pharmaceutical/supplement manufacturing or equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training.
* Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills with ability to lead and motivate a team.
* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail .
* Ability to follow instructions and adhere to tight schedules.
* Mechanical aptitude required.
* Prior experience in cGMP environment highly desired.
* Basic math and computer skills.
* College degree a strong plus.

Summary: Responsible for the daily preparation and shipping of completed eyewear and the receiving/verification of inbound merchandise deliveries, ensuring they are routed to the proper associate(s).
